Twitter Games?

Some trends and fun on twitter:

#3wordsduringsex In this #hash tag, you put down 3 word that you can expect to hear or say (during sex). e.g. "wrap it up", "Glad i'm drunk"

#3wordsaftersex In this #hash tag, you put down 3 word that you can expect to hear or say (after sex). "Want some gauze?", "yes i came"

#twitterfilms Naming a movie with a Twitter twist. e.g. "American twitter", "Lord of the Tweets".

I'm trying to start this:

#nphdo What would Neil Patrick Harris do? (Harold & Kumar) "Snorting Coke", "Riding a Unicorn to save the day", "Steal a car to pick up whores!"

So let me know and join in the fun!

Twitter.

Twitter, being a social media tool probably should be more vigiliant in managing accounts, but as a social media consultant and a trainer in Twitter, I feel that this suspension for having "suspicious activity" like #followfriday and RT??

I primarily use my account to build up my network, get news and entainment. I find it convenient to get help when needed too, but when I heard that people cannot see my updates yesterday and my account got suspended today, I was shocked!

Who goes there?

Sorry, the account you were headed to has been suspended due to strange activity. Mosey along now, nothing to see here.

Suspended account

...or if you're curious as to why an account might be suspended, head over this way for the juicy details.

Entry not found

You do not have access to entry #14362. It may have been deleted.

What is entry #14362?? and what is deleted?

When I followed the links, I got a page not found.

I've not heard back from them yet, and I sure hope twitter, as a social media tool will have responsive customer service!

Sustainability and fuels

Singapore is a great place for research and development. Foreign Investors come to Singapore to produce biofuels, and there is a lot of talks about "Garden City" and "Eco-friendliness" in Singapore, however, itself is not using it.

Singapore introduced Natural Gas in 2006, (or earlier) and I known many people who have converted their vehicles to use Natural Gas. In fact, some taxis are using it too. I really liked the idea as I've seen the MBTA in Massachusetts converted their fleet to Natural Gas, and it has improved my quality of life as the exhaust gases were much more tolerable compared to the diesel fumes.

I thought that with the Government's introduction of newer fuels and push for more sustainable fuels and cleaner air, this trend will catch on, however to my disappointment, it was like any other sustainable initiatives in Singapore -- just for show.

Solar energy, hybrid vehicles -- all seemed to be "taxed" as luxury items. I really would like to see the government use biofuels or natural gases for public transportation as the copious thick fumes emitted by the buses makes me drive with my windows closed, and I have to turn on the aircon, wasting more gas.

Singapore has f oil refineries and has a carbon footprint that is one of the highest in the world. Singapore seemed to embrace the idea and has many foreign investors coming to invest, however Singapore is not using any.

Many countries in the region like Phillipines, Malaysia and Indonesia have begun using sustainable sources of fuels, but why is Singapore so slow and adamant when it comes to the environment? Isn't Singapore a first world country, and shouldn't the government that mandate everything else mandate the use of these sustainable fuels?

Some of these blends of biodiesel caneven cut carbon dioxide output of 10%. They would also require no change in pumps or modification to cars to use them.

I hope there are a lot of plans and action soon as for the Natural Gas initiative, I've still not know any of my friends who converted their cars to use it, pump it.

#sgtweetup

I was at the first Tweetup in Singapore organized by Carl Griffith, and I was surprised at the turnout.

Here are my thoughts:

1) Location:

The location is not very easy to find, I had some friends who cannot locate it. However, it is not that far away from public transport, which is a bonus. The shape of the room, I fell is not very conducive for the event, small clusters of people, not really easy to get to.

2) Food/Drinks:

The drinks there are ok, 1 for 1 for such an event is good, but beer selection is rather limited. Would love if they could provide more finger food like peanuts, or chips, then perhaps I would have drank more.

3) Event:

I felt like something was missing, and the event was somehow "hijacked" by the model presentation. I mean a tweetup? Should we get some tips on how to use twitter? I think there are some beginners who just joined, and may learn a thing or two from the veterans. I like the @ nametags, which was cool, but they can still be bigger and more obvious as I am wearing glasses and cannot see that well. The plus side is the models tweet, and why complain about models?

Although it was organized on facebook, I went through the attendees, and could not find a lot of people I met, and its also hard to find their twitter names if I did not get it down at the tweetup.

There probably need a phone number to call if people are lost trying to get there.

4) Turnout:

Turnout was amazing for the first time this was held. I think we had close to 100 Singaporean tweeps at this sgtweetup. I expected maybe 40 to turn up, but it was great.

5) Ambiance:

Like I said, it was not a very conducive place to meet. I think many tweeps who came are rather shy and I had to approach them to break the ice. The multiple chairs in the way did not help, and when people are standing with chairs around them, some may feel a little intimidated and do not approach.

The location felt small when everyone arrived, and it was a little too many people in a small room to mingle. In Singapore, I felt again that Singaporeans do not really have the culture to just socialize and network. I tried to have some conversation, but got smiles and nods instead. People don't seem to want to introduce themselves.

There were definitely some cool tweeps there.

These are some cool tweeps I met:

Overall, there were many marketing people, and networking people, students, the usual geek... Luckily I did not meet insurance / fund managers / financial advisors / property agents / MLM people there.

I must say to those who refuse to come, this is a pretty cool event, you really missed out.

Do not change for new EZ-link cards

On THURSDAY, MARCH 19, 2009

I wrote a blog about my damaged EZ-link cards. Since then, nothing was done and I've called several times to ask about the status.

Initially, the call was to SMRT, then it was referred to ez-link, and then back to SMRT, and now to ex-link again. My cards all have about $30 - $50 in value and they have not been refunded yet. I was told processing takes 21 working days, but it is now May 4, and yet still no reply.

My new car which I got back in March is bad now, and the one I got in April is also bad. I don't understand how they can release such a bad product and not do any quality assurance. I've not even received my refunds and refunds are not immediate for faulty cards.

My old card lasted 4 years, and I've not replaced it since, and I've known more than 10 bad Transitlink cards since it was launched back in March 2009?

I don't know if it is my bad luck or just poor quality, but now, the refunds process and the lack of ownership of the problem is very annoying and I have not received any refunds. The phone calls to customer service is useless, and my advice is "DO NOT CHANGE THE NEW CARDS" unless it is really necessary.

The original cards, you get your deposit back, but these new cards, it is just a throw away, no deposits returned, and when it is faulty, you don't even get a refund!
